The Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park promotes the use and improvement of the park by:

  • Providing volunteer support for maintaining trails, planting prairies and other stewardship activities.
  • Assisting the park with educational and community activities
  • Providing financial assistance for park projects and programs

Group meets the second Tuesday of every month in the park at 6:30p.m. to plan activities.

2009 NATURE PROGRAMS AND EVENTS

May 23 Snakes Alive! (Native Snakes) with Tom Kessenich, 7:00 p.m., picnic shelter.

June 6 Turkey Vultures with Dr. Lester Nider, 7:00,Chattermark Amphitheater.

June 20 Universe in the Park, program starts at sunset with a slide show at the Chattermark Amphitheater.

July 4 Toad Homes and Outdoor Sketch Books with Dunnell, 7:00 p.m. picnic shelter.

July 11 Night Hike with Brad Bates, 7:30 p.m., meet at the picnic shelter.

July 18 Snakes Alive! (non native Snakes), Tom Kessenich, 7:00 p.m., picnic shelter.

July 25 Butterfly Netting, Anna Bates, 11:00 a.m. meet at picnic shelter.

Aug 8 Storytelling with Eileen Horn, 7:00 p.m. at the “Chattermark.”

Aug 15 Timber Wolf Alliance with Lisa Lemke, 7:30 p.m. at the picnic shelter.

Sept 19 Grand Opening of the Bison Trail, 1:00 p.m. North Prairie kiosk.

**All programs subject to change of time and meeting place due to weather conditions and availability of staff at the park.
